Confusing our Affections
Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 12:55PM Too often we love the things we know and fear the things we don't. This week we're talking about storge, which is love associated with familial affections. It's our affection for things that we're close to. When we talk about love in the Bible this isn't it. The challenge for us this week is to understand that the love we have isn't to be replaced or upstaged by our affections for the familiar. It isn't to be overcome by our fear of the unknown. We can't have a love that is based on the narrowness of our own experience, but rather a love that reflects the knowledge and experience of our God. This week we learn a lot about what love is not.
