Intro to Revelation

The book of Revelation is like one of those well-written novels that you can’t seem to put down. Having recently returned as a reader to the book world, there have been only two novels that I’ve read in less than 12 hours: Room by Emma Donoghue and The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware. All three books have the power to pull you in and not let you go. Page turners!

Throughout media there have been several movies, songs, and novels written about the end of times. While reading this book of the Bible as an adult, I got visuals of creatures that could have been portrayed in The Lord of the Rings or in The Chronicles of Narnia. I tend to not watch movies whose main focus is to tell us about what the rapture will be like. They are all different and none gets it right. While imaginations differ from person to person, no two people read the same book, hear the same song or watch the same movie.

The book of Revelation sucks you in from the beginning and if read with an open imagination, sounds different to the adult’s mind than to the child’s. As a child, I only read the bits and pieces that were assigned as memory verses, then when sitting with the adults in “big church,”as it was put back then, I heard the more graphic and scary parts. Now that I’ve read it as an adult, I feel so differently about it.

“For blessed who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near.”-Rev 1:3
