Title

Pentecost Sunday

Text

Acts 2:1-12 (NET)

Introduction:

I was recently asked what I hoped to see come true in the future in our society. The first thing that popped into my head was “Sesame Street”. Now that may not sound like a very “biblical” answer, and honestly I questioned it myself, but here is what I think I was longing for: A place where everyone has a spot (from Oscar the Grouch to Big Bird). A place that all people and animals of all colors and languages, temperaments and abilities coexist. No one is treated like they are stupid or have to earn their way in. No one is better than someone else. You might ask if Sesame Street some kind of secular utopia, and it could be, but I also think it reflects a world that much more accurately describes deliverance as Christ followers are supposed to create much more accurately than most Churches do. Discover with us during this Pentecost Sunday to see what we can find.

Grace and peace y’all,

Big Idea: The ultimate goal of all God’s delivering is the welcome and inclusion of all people’s into God’s family and Kingdom.

Take Away:

Christ followers are to be deliverance people, not just for ourselves, but for all people everywhere. Pentecost is the dramatic demonstration of this reality.

How does this fit in with Belong, Become, Believe?

At Grace we practice radical hospitality, the welcome and inclusion of all people everywhere into our church as a reflection of the Pentecost experience. This practice helps us become more and more the people of God who are formed by this reality. This is all reflected in, and defined by what we say we believe.
