Introduction

I don’t think I’m the only one that has a big basket (or a drawer) of miscellaneous cords, chargers, cables and adaptors. Wires to charge things I no longer have. It should be easy to take them to be recycled, yet here they are continuing to pile up. Every once in a while I will dig through it, hoping to find something that will work and inevitably come up with nothing. Why is it so difficult to let go?

Well, if this is the case for you like it is for me, we’re not alone so don’t worry. The recipients of Hebrews also had trouble letting go of things that no longer fit or “worked”. Let’s dig in a see what we can find,

Grace and peace y’all,

John Ray and the teaching team

Big Idea

Living into the “new heart” that God offers us isn’t always easy. It takes practice and encouragement.

Take Away

Having a “new heart” can also be very disorienting. How we receive it depends a lot on what we let go of to make room for it.

Text

Hebrews 10:1-39 (NET)

How does this fit with Belong, Become, Believe?

At Grace, we make room for the new by welcoming people the way we were welcomed. This invitation for others to belong is also part of our own becoming, a practice of letting go of old prejudices and preconceptions to make room for new understanding. All this informs what we confess to believe.
